Biodiversity Net Gain QA
BNG is a legal requirement and the last thing you want is missing or incorrect data points. I’ve been working in construction and ecology for a decade, so let me fix that up for you.
Keeping your BNG applications airtight
Getting your BNG applications wrong can come at a heavy cost. The Local Planning Authority could reject your application. Errors in reporting can risk you not offsetting correctly and costing you thousands. And that’s not to mention the reputational risks. No one wants that.
Working with GIS is a specialist skill and whether you just don’t have time to double check the work yourself or you need a more experienced second pair of eyes, this is how I can help.
Meet data standards
Catch missing info
Find errors and inconsistencies
The quality assurance process
This isn’t a simple proofreading exercise. I’ll go through your BNG data with a fine tooth comb and the audit will be based on 3 key areas:
Essential data standards
-
Data type and format
-
Co-ordinate reference system
-
Layer naming (consistency, clarity, and usability)
-
Recording of revisions throughout your process
Metadata information
-
What’s been provided
-
Missing details
-
Improvements needed
-
Compliance with GEMINI 2.3
Biodiversity Net Gain and metric data
-
Adherence to red line boundaries
-
Parcel references
-
Currency and quality of reference data used
-
Alignment with BNG Metric classifications
-
Topology and geometry errors
-
Matching up your data with GIS data
What you’ll get from me
Once I’ve examined your submission, I’ll provide a full data audit report so you can see exactly what’s missing, what needs adding, what needs improving, and anything that doesn’t quite meet the requirements.
-
Summary of recurring issues found in your datasets
-
Clear pass/fail on key GIS and BNG data checks
-
Visual guide of topology and geometry errors
-
Recommendations and fixes for future improvement for your ongoing works
-
Statutory Metric Spreadsheet for data comparison
-
All packaged up for easy cross referencing to make improvements to your submission
-
A QGIS workspace containing QA data layers you can use in conjunction with the report
-
Post-report call to discuss findings
Pricing and timeline
Every site is different so size, complexity, and data quality will impact the cost. Here are some examples:
-
Small or simple sites < 10ha from £375 + VAT
-
Medium size and complexity sites between 10 & 50ha from £750 + VAT
-
Large or complex sites > 50ha from £1,250 + VAT
I aim to complete your draft report within two weeks of receiving and reviewing your data. All timelines will be confirmed before work begins.
